Children's Games

Presented in part by Mid-Atlantic Scots4Tots 501(c)(3)

Mid-Atlantic Scots 4 Tots

The Virginia Scottish Games and Festival is pleased to welcome back the Mid-Atlantic Scots4Tots as Children’s Games Coordinator.  Mid-Atlantic Scots4Tots is proud to be associated with this year’s Children’s Games.  The Children’s Games are loosely modeled after the adult professional and amateur athletics’ events and are open to children up to 12 years of age.

Children compete in four or five different events (depending on their age), and compete within their own age bracket:
5 and under, 6-8, 9-12.

The children’s version of Heavy Events Competition is free of charge (caber, sheaf, stone throw, etc.).
Archery and face painting are also available for a modest donation:

  • $3-$5 for face painting
  • $2 for five arrows in archery

The Children’s Games are run as an enjoyable and friendly “competition” and to ensure that all children feel a sense of accomplishment, participant ribbons are awarded to each child regardless of the outcome of the competition.
It’s all about having FUN!

Mid-Atlantic Scots4Tots is a nonprofit organization that focuses its time and fund raising efforts on children.  In 2014, the organization through its fundraising efforts: donated $1,500 to TC Williams High School’s Scholarship Program Fund which was established by the school to help provide a small measure of support to deserving low income, first generation, college-bound students;  purchased toys, clothing, diapers, and groceries for a needy family with three children; donated $1,000 to the Children’s National Medical Center “New Horizons Arts and Crafts Program” that provides crafts and fun activities for hospitalized children; donated a total of $2,500 to two military families in need of financial assistance.

This group is for everyone, and as their motto states:  “You don’t have to be Scottish, you just have to care!”

We are looking for parents to volunteer to run the games, face painting, and archery.  Please contact David Close at if you are interested in helping.
