Children's
Games
Presented
in part by Mid-Atlantic Scots4Tots 501(c)(3)

The
Virginia Scottish Games and Festival is pleased to welcome back the Mid-Atlantic
Scots4Tots as Children Games Coordinator.
The
Children Games will start at 11:00 a.m. near the main entrance and run every
hour
The Children's games are loosely modeled after
the adult professional and amateur athletics' events and are open to
children up to 15 years of age. Children compete in four or five different events
(depending on their age), and compete within their own age bracket: 5 and
under, 6- 8, 9-11 and 12 and over. The
non profit charitable group will manage the events which will include
the hammer toss, the caber toss and Braemar stone throw. Other activities
between the games include a haggis toss, a kilt relay, balloon swords and face
painting. Ribbons are awarded for 1st, 2nd
and 3rd. All others get a participant ribbon. The field is usually
crowded, so heats are run with several competitors at a time. Each
participant gets to keep their "discus."
Mid-Atlantic
Scots4Tots is proud to be associated with the
Children’s Games.
Mid-Atlantic
Scots4Tots
is affiliated with the Children’s National Medical
Center of Washington D.C. and the Walter Reed Medical Center and focuses on
the physical and emotional well being of children and families, as everyone shares the emotional stress of an
illness. MAST provided $1830 in funding their first year, along with more
than 625 volunteer hours to these two medical facilities.
While members of the
Mid-Atlantic Scots4Tots have been a
part of The Shakespeare Theater's presentation of the National Theatre of Scotland’s production of
"Black Watch." Its Color Guard was also was invited to lead the New York
City National Tartan Day Parade and the Mid-Atlantic Scots4Tots has the support
of the Chancellor and Vice Chancellor from the Scottish Affairs Office in the
British Embassy.
This is a group for
everyone, and as their motto states: You
