Virginia Scottish Games - September 4 - 5, 2010

Children's Games

The Children's games are loosely modeled after the adult professional and amateur athletics' events and are open to children up to 15 years of age.  Athletes will be on hand to work with the kids Sunday morning.  Children compete in four or five different events (depending on their age), and compete within their own age bracket: 5 and under, 6/7, 8/9, 10/11 and 12 and over.  The events include foot races, bale tossing, brick throwing, the discus (Frisbee) throw, and the "caber" toss (the caber is a hollow cardboard tube for the younger participants and a miniature version of the real caber for older children).  Ribbons are awarded for 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th place finishers.  All others get a participant ribbon. The field is usually crowded, so heats are run with several competitors at a time.  Each participant gets to keep their "discus".

Please check our schedule for event times and be prepared to have fun……

 NESSIE WILL BE BACK!

We are also looking for parents of the participants to volunteer as coaches and judges.
If you are interested in being a
volunteer, register on line.
