Alex Beaton
Take a great baritone voice, add a kilt and a guitar and
what do you have?
Whether you are at a Highland Games in the wilds of North
Carolina, or a Burns Night in California chances are you will hear Alex Beaton.
Alex is the quintessential entertainer who is at home on the
concert stage as well as clubs and on the banquet circuit. His virtuoso guitar playing and engaging
stage presence compliments his rich baritone voice. This winning combination has made him the
most popular and successful Scottish folksinger in North America with a large
and loyal following all across the continent.
Alex was born in Glasgow, Scotland, and began his
professional career with the Cumberland Three, one of Britain's most popular
folk singing acts of the sixties. He
launched his solo career in New York in 1968 appearing in clubs and in concerts
throughout the United States. During the seventies Alex displayed his
versatility performing Country and Pop music to audiences nationwide.
Although he enjoyed his success as an entertainer he
recognized that there was a desire among American audiences for traditional
Celtic music. He knew that the natural
outlet for his music was the Highland Games that can be found all over the
continent, wherever there are people of Scottish heritage. He founded Glenfinnan Music Ltd. and began to
open a market for the traditional singer at the gatherings. Now, at every one, the folksinger is there
along with the athlete and the piper.

Alex has met with international acclaim and has made
numerous radio and television appearances both in America and Great
Britain. His repertoire includes a wide
range of musical expression from poignant ballads to rousing Celtic classics.
If you want to spend some time immersed in the sounds of
Scotland, and know more about the land that gave birth to the ancestors of many
Americans, sit in the audience and experience Alex Beaton.

| Glengarry
Bhoys
Described as bold, unorthodox, vibrant, and evocative, the GLENGARRY BHOYS'
hybrid of Canadian Highland Scots and French Canadian musical idioms has evolved
into a sound that is weighty, authoritative, and extremely entertaining. Their
energy and good humor, as much a part of the show as their musicianship, crosses
all cultures and ages. Many things have been written and reported about this world
renown Canadian alt-celt group over that last decade, all depicting their musical and
entertaining prowess with varied audiences the world over, but their ability to marshal large
enthusiastic audiences show after show is legion and recognized.
Their
objective is simple yet evocative, as stated by their lead singer Graham Wright
in a CBC "Fresh Air" interview: "if our audience can only get
10% of the satisfaction we get entertaining them - then we surpass objective." Accordingly and
repeatedly, they do!!
From a
small Scots-French-Canadian enclave in Eastern Ontario, these Celtic-Stompers,
always pushing the musical envelope but never straying too far from the
traditional whence they came, have earned a reputation as entertainers that challenge you to sit
still during their engaging performances.
Go ahead
and try!
"With their infectious fusion of rock and Celtic
styles, the Ontario based Glengarry Bhoys are making their mark on the Irish
American music scene." - The Irish Echo

Run
Drawing
on the poetry of Burns, Yeats, Shakespeare, Kipling, Blake, Carbery and more,
this dramatic band has been labeled 'the thinking person's Celtic Rock band.'
It is a moniker that they wear with pride as they present music that ranges
from the mysterious dangers of the faerie mound, to the ghost train that haunts
the rugged Welsh hills, to the legendary battle between the Oak King and the
Holly King, to a raging sea battle against Sir Francis Drake, and much, much
more. This is a musical experience unlike any other, undeniably Celtic,
and completely unforgettable.
"Imagine Jethro Tull on
Broadway and you're starting to get the picture." - Sam McDonald, Daily
Press Music Editor, Newport News, Virginia
